Foundation and Excavation
Concrete is the perfect material for foundations and Dallas Concrete Stamping is the perfect company to chose for the quality foundation work to base your building on. Although we made our name is the fine decoration of polishing, staining, and stamping we are truly a top to bottom concrete company used to getting our hands (and machinery) dirty digging out the foundations for your projects. Remember that foundations aren't just for mega buildings and heavy construction work – though we do that too. Foundations may be required for even very modest work including pergolas and patios depending on the type of soil that you're aiming to build on.
Soil changes everything when it comes to construction and the soil type and composition can vary wildly even within the same housing block so as pros we don't start work until we've been able to analyze the soil and its composition. That means clearing enough ground and topsoil so we can dig down and get an idea of the amount of clay, rock, and sand that may be in the soil and will dramatically affect its ability to support structures. We can also assess the risks of that soil moving with time, load, and weather; all of which you need to know in order to plan the kind of foundations that will stand up to the test of time.
Preparation and Excavation
We're not afraid to roll up our sleeves and clear the ground even if it's a pretty messy looking job. We can bring in the grabs and skid steerers needed to clear any land – or provide the men and the shovels for more delicate or smaller jobs. Then when it comes to the real excavation work itself we can work with the architects on bigger jobs or simply help you decide how deep excavation needs to go for small jobs like gazebos and garages. We'll dig down to create the foundation space, holes for piles, and trenches, depending what is necessary for the job.
Slab on Grade Foundations
One of the most popular foundation types for houses in the US because it is simple, cheap, and reliable. Slab on grade involves pouring a massive foundation slab directly onto the soil and that in turn requires an understanding not only of the amount and type of concrete that needs to be poured but also the soil type, any likely movement, and the local drainage. We're experts at providing those slab on grade foundations that will float with the ground, stay perfectly on the level and last as long as your house or construction needs to.
Sometimes you need more than simple slab foundations and then it's time for trenches and footings. Footings are the supports for the foundations themselves and consist of reinforced concrete with rebar (the iron bar in concrete) that is poured into excavated trenches to give those foundations extra power to take the weight. The depth of trench and number of footings needed depends on the kind of soil and the likely stresses of the building being put up so talk to us today if you are working on a project that needs that extra foundation muscle.
